                                                            The Legend of Rawa Pening

Once upon a time, there was a man in Semarang. People called him Ki Ajar. Ki Ajar had a baby son, but amazinglythe baby was a snake. He named his son Baruklinting. He ordered the snake to mediate in mount Sileker to become a human.

One day, the people of Benerawa went hunting. They found a big snake and cut it into a pieces. They didn't know that it was Baruklinting.

The soul of Baruklinting turned into a small boy. He begged for  food in the village of Benerawa. But no one cared of him and some boys even mocked him. The little boy planted a stick. When he pulled the stick out of the ground, water sprang. Villagers were drowned, only an old poor widow was saved because she helped the boy by giving him some porridge and drink.

Nowadays the area is a big lake called Rawa Pening. It's located in Semarang regency.
